These styles seem worlds apart, yet both are forged by the same desire, to confront and master the tension between mere art and real life.

It includes the heartfelt funereal lament, ‘Incenerite spoglie’, the tenor and bass virtuoso showpiece, ‘Ogni amante è guerrier’, two erotic masterworks and a new look at his Ballo for the Mantuan court, ‘Tirsi e Clori’ with 10 voices, 5 strings, continuo and percussion.
